Aaj kya banaye?

आज क्या बनाएं?

The question comes up two or three times a day, and most families end up rotating the same twelve dishes. Rasoi watches what your kitchen actually cooks: the dish, the meal, the day of the week, how long it took, and answers from that.

Smart Rhythm

It learns your routine, not just your tastes

Most recipe apps ask what you like once and then suggest from a catalogue. Rasoi reads the meals you log, which is a far better record of how your home really eats.

  1. 1

It notices the slot, not just the dish

Poha on weekday mornings, a long Sunday lunch, khichdi on Monday nights. A dish that fits the slot you actually cook in beats a better dish at the wrong time.

  2. 2

It learns how often a favourite comes round

If rajma appears about every twelve days, Rasoi brings it back when it is due instead of treating every repeat as a failure, and holds it back when it would be too soon.

  3. 3

It knows a Tuesday is not a Sunday

Weeknight dinners might run twenty minutes and weekend lunches ninety. Rasoi reads that from the times you record, instead of applying one cooking-time setting to every meal of the week.

  4. 4

It cooks from what is already in the kitchen

Tell it what you have and it ranks dishes by how much of it you can cover, so the shopping list is short and less goes to waste.

Honest observations: Rasoi will say when it does not know yet. Until about eight meals are logged it tells you it is still watching, rather than inventing a pattern from two data points. Every observation on the “Your kitchen” screen shows how many meals it rests on.

By Construction

The vegetarian guarantee is structural

For a lot of households this is the whole decision, so it is not left to a filter that someone might forget to apply.

  • Ingredients are classified, not tagged

Every ingredient in Rasoi's lexicon of more than 230 Indian ingredients carries a dietary class. Only plant, fungus, dairy and honey exist as classes.

  • Recipe flags are computed

A recipe's vegetarian, egg and vegan flags are derived from its ingredients. Authors, admins, importers and the AI cannot set them by hand, and an unknown ingredient blocks publication.

  • The database refuses the rest

Constraints on the recipe and ingredient tables mean a row containing egg or meat cannot be inserted at all, not even by someone writing SQL directly.

  • Filters run before anything is ranked

Vegetarian, vegan, allergens, Jain preferences (no onion, no garlic, no root vegetables) and your “never suggest this” list are applied before a single dish is scored.

  • The chat assistant cannot go off-list

It only ever receives dishes that already passed those filters, and every sentence it writes is scanned for non-vegetarian words before you see it.

  • Everyone at home is counted

Household members have their own allergies, spice tolerance and dislikes, and the strictest diet in the house sets the floor for the whole family.

Fair & Transparent

Free, with a small fee to remove the ads

The useful part of Rasoi costs us nothing to run, so it is not behind a paywall. Suggestions, planning and the pantry are worked out on the spot; only the chat assistant costs money per message, so only that is limited.

  • Daily suggestions for every meal
  • Your kitchen's own patterns
  • Weekly plan and shopping list
  • Pantry and “what can I make?”
  • Household members and diets
  • A few ads, capped each day
  • 15 chat messages a day

Indicative prices in India; outside India it is $1.99 a month or $14.99 a year. The App Store and Google Play will show the exact price in your currency before you pay. Ads never appear inside a recipe's steps, there are no full-screen ads, and a new account sees none at all for its first week.

Got Questions?

Frequently Asked Questions

Does it understand Hinglish?

Yes. “Mere paas paneer aur capsicum hai”, “kuch halka banao”, “paneer nahi chahiye aaj” all work, and the whole app is available in Hindi as well as English.

Is it vegan-friendly? Jain-friendly?

Both. A vegan household never sees dairy, and gets substitutions on every recipe change. Jain households can rule out onion, garlic and root vegetables, and those rules are applied before anything is suggested, not as a warning afterwards.

Do I have to log every meal?

No. Logging is what makes the suggestions sharper, but the app works from your preferences and pantry on day one. Nothing is required and nothing is nagged.

Why does it show ads at all?

So that the whole daily loop can stay free for households that will not pay for an app. There are five places an ad can appear, each capped per day, none of them while you are cooking. ₹49 a month removes them.

What happens to my data?

It stays yours. You can export everything Rasoi holds about you as a single file from Settings, and delete your account from the app. Nothing is sold. The privacy policy says exactly what is stored and why.

Can I use it outside India?

Yes, a good part of who this is for is Indian families abroad who miss home food. Prices are shown in your own currency.
